If you don’t want to have to bother coming up with new passwords and remembering your existing passwords while also improving your overall security, then a password manager is the perfect solution. At the same time, two-factor authentication (2FA) makes it more difficult to break into your account, especially if someone else learns your master password. With one of the best password managers installed on your devices, your passwords and other sensitive data are encrypted and securely stored on the password manager’s servers. If you do reuse the same passwords, once a hacker gets one of them, they can then access all of your other accounts and in the process, potentially steal your identity. Interestingly i can mark this bash script executable without admin privilege. At the same time though, the best password managers allow you to quickly and easily generate strong, complex passwords for you so you don’t have to come up with them on your own. (c) user not running with admin or root privilege (b) requirement for admin permit to use CHMOD to mark a file as executable (a) text running only from RX pages (to prevent memory corruption (injection accacks) ) and I see three key features as being important obstacles to execution of un-authorized programming: Ransomware - is going to work via the installation on an un-authorized program Generally I tend to think most web-site logon aren't worth much to hackers- still, many use an e/mail address as the user-id and e/mail addresses are handy for phishing and spamming. hmmmmmmm me sez: this be a serious security risk. the browser's autofill feature offered to use any logons that had ever been used within the particular system. I became interested in this when I tried to create a new account on a photo site. I did have to follow the "Import Version 1 Database" instructions. KeePassX installed perfectly from the backports. It's worked great across computers and even across distros. I've never had trouble migrating my keepassx database. I was about to point out that KeePassX 2 is available through the backports. I've got to do all 3 machines though - so that'll be for tw It looks to be available via the Backports. Sudo add-apt-repository ppa:eugenesan/ppaĬlick link for 32 or 64 bit Linux Mint 17.x Ubuntu 14.04 TrustyĬlick link for 32 or 64 bit Linux Mint 18.x Ubuntu 16.04 Xenial Sudo add-apt-repository ppa:keepassx/daily To install this using the PPA method, open a console terminal, type in, or copy & paste, each line below one by one: They all have great Linux software clients as well.Īnd as some have just pointed out, I just assumed you are using KeePassX v2.x.x which is in the Linux Mint 18.x repositories (Software Manager or Synaptic Package Manager (SPM)), whereas in Linux Mint 17.x it required using a PPA or downloading and installing a ".deb" file. I don't see any delays with "pCloud", or "Insync" (Google Drive), or MegaSync, etc. But, you can usually right click a cloud sync client and tell it to sync now. You made a valid point, it can take some time for some cloud sync clients to sync any changes you made like to a KeePass database file. Looks like v 2.0.3 might be available from the BackPorts But installing KeePassX from another source might be a good idea and it doesn't take much time. I have really no idea if this was the case. Maybe this was caused by something in the repository, maybe it wasn't the newest version. I've ran Unetbootin from Windows 10 and it was fine. I've made a live USB stick to install Cinnamon today 2 times with Unetbootin. Maybe you could try uninstalling and purging it then installing it from source / *.deb file. I've heard that because of the long Debian release cycles, a few programs in the repositories are a bit outdated. I'm using Cinnamon 18.1 Serena (I've just tried Mate on my brother's computer but I've had some bug so I reinstalled Cinnamon instead of Mate). looks like you've been using KDE I'm on LMDE/2 so there maybe some difference there Thanks for the come-back i'll try to get the error info.
